Aratu-Thiruvananthapuram Sree Padmanabha Swami Temple

The 'Veta', and 'Aratu' are the two major festivals of Thiruvananthapuram Sree padmanabhaswami temple. These festivals held twice a year. The idols from the temple are subjected to a ritual purification in the Sea. The procession, from Padmanabhaswami temple to Shanghumugham, includes cultural performances and Kathakali etc. The members of the royal family of erst while Travancore usually lead the festival.
