The combination of Kuthu, Koodiyattam and Theyyam, depends upon 'Gita Govinda' of Jayadeva and the 'Sopansangeetham'. The Krisnanattam consist of eight parts, staged on eight successive days. Pacha, Kathi, Kari Minukku, tadi and all the costumes of Kathakali are used in krishnanattam. No attempt is made to interpret the meaning of the text, word by word as in kathakali. 'Chenda' which is an essential item in all art forms of Kerala is not used; 'Maddalam' and 'Idakka' jointly create the rich and rhythmic back ground for the dance.

Krishnanatam

A pantomime of Raja Manaveda, who was the Zamoorin of Calicut (1655-58 A.D). Krishnanattam, based on Bhagavtha particularly 'Dasama skantha' is intimately connected with Guruvayoor temple,as it is the only place where this unique art exists, as an offering to Lord Guruvayoorappan.
